Frequently Asked Questions
What types of retaining walls do you construct?
The best material is the one that suits your style & budget. Treated pine or concrete sleepers. Gabion cages, stacked stone, sandstone blocks or a poured wall are a few options. They all have advantages and disadvantages. Access & the slope you're trying to retain could be part of the discussion in marking your decision. Cheapest is treated pine, then you could use galvanised post, concrete sleepers. We could form a retaining wall and pour a vertical slab. Footings with brick or blockwork could be the look you're looking for. Large sandstone blocks look great with their natural colours and veins running through them. Each block has its own personality.
I’m worried about potential bushfires. What can you do?
A firebreak is just what it sounds like. It’s an area with little or no vegetation, including bushes and grasses, that is there to break the fire’s trajectory. Since fire can’t burn in soil, the less vegetation you have in an area, the better the chance you will be able to prevent the spread.
The exact amount of time it will take to clear an area of land will vary based on the type of materials found there (large trees or only bush?) but we can often clear your block in as little as a day. When you give us a call, we will come over and take a detailed survey of the land to see if there are any issues which would lengthen, or shorten, the amount of time the job would take.
Are you licenced?
Absolutely.

What kind of driveway should I have?
What look you are trying to achieve. There are lots of good materials to choose from concrete, asphalt, decomposed granite, road base, stone, or a recycled product. All materials will achieve a different look. Think about the area it's going in and what type of traffic will use it. Always have a solid base. This will be the strength of your driveway.
